New role for Assoc Prof Martin Grimmer
Associate Professor Martin Grimmer has been appointed as the UTAS Faculty of Business’ first Deputy Dean.
Assoc Prof Grimmer was Head of the School of Management from 2006-2008 (Deputy Head from 2004-2005) and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business from 2009-2010. He is currently the MBA Director and the Graduate Research Coordinator.
Assoc Prof Grimmer began his academic career in Queensland, working at the University of Queensland and Griffith University. At Griffith University, he was one of the founding members of the School of Applied Psychology.
He has also been a partner in an organisational consultancy business and worked as an industrial/organisational psychologist.
Since joining the School of Management at UTAS in 1996, he has taught in human resources (HR), research methods and marketing.
“I now concentrate on consumer behaviour, which is heavily based on psychological theory. My research interests include the psychological contract, organisational behaviour and staff selection. I have been involved in a range of projects looking at trends in the use of different research methods in published research in both HR and marketing,” he said.
“My current research primarily focuses on the area of pro-social, and specifically pro-environmental, consumer behaviour.”
Assoc Prof Grimmer has been the UTAS Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) Institutional Representative since 2004 and a member of the ANZAM Board since 2010. He is also the ANZAM 2013 Conference Convener, which is being held in Hobart in December 2013.
He is a UTAS alumnus, gaining his PhD here in 2003. He also holds a BSc(Hons) and Master of Organisational Psychology from the University of Queensland.
