The University of Tasmania has ranked in the top 50 worldwide for earth and marine sciences in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject.
And for the second year in a row, agriculture and forestry ranked in the top 100.
In a competitive higher education market, the QS Rankings are one of the things potential students look at when they are considering where to study.
Several other disciplines at the University were also rated by QS as among the best in the world, including art and design, which ranked among the top 150 for the first time this year.
QS considers reputation, which it determines through a global survey of academics and employers, and research impact when compiling the ratings.
