With strong endorsement from industry leaders, the University of Tasmania’s Masterclass in Horticultural Business is gaining a strong reputation as Australia’s foremost training opportunity for horticultural business professionals.
Applications for 2019 are now open, and people working in a variety of horticultural sectors are encouraged to apply for one of 16 industry-supported scholarships worth $10,000 each.
“The Masterclass in Horticultural Business is offered through flexible online delivery, and includes several face-to-face field trips to a variety of horticultural regions around Australia,” Associate Professor Alistair Gracie from the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture said.
“The 10-month course is designed for people who want to take their careers to the next level, by gaining new knowledge and business skills that can immediately be put into practice.
“Scholarships are available for people working in the vegetable, nursery, apple and pear sectors – however, the course is open to anyone working in the Australian horticultural industry.”
Wayne Trengove, from Hansen’s Orchard in Tasmania, pictured, participated in the masterclass in 2018 and was a recipient of an industry-supported scholarship.
“After just a few months my skills are already honed better, and I think I’m a better manager and horticulturalist than I was before,” Mr Trengove said.
“I have found the entire course beneficial, whether it was brushing-up and honing my existing skills or learning new and valuable information. I would encourage others to apply for this course.”
