Cave diving for exploration and science in one of the world’s most spectacular deep caves

Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) ARC DECRA Fellow Dr Andreas Klocker, will speak about cave diving for exploration and science in one of the world’s most spectacular deep caves, in Hobart next week.

Dr Klocker will talk about recent caving and cave diving expeditions he has led to Sistema Huautla, one of the world's deepest cave systems located in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca.

The presentation will focus  on the March 2018 expedition, an ambitious and challenging cave diving project in which divers attempted to surpass the previous limit of exploration, some five kilometres underground.
