Pint of Science is an international not-for-profit festival that brings scientists into pubs to chat about their research with the public in an informal setting.
This year’s festival is from May 14-16 and Australians will be the first in the world to raise their glass to science.
Staged in partnership with the CSIRO, the Australian festival has expanded this year to 88 events in 16 locations. The Hobart event is being organised by University of Tasmania staffers Tessa Smith and Vipul Gupta.
University speakers in Hobart include Bianca Deans, whose PhD study focuses on the chemistry of endemic Tasmanian plants; Dr Anita Parbhakar-Fox, a Senior Lecturer in Geoenvironmental Studies at CODES ARC, and Andrew Cole, pictured, Associate Professor in Physics and Astronomy.
