Launceston’s Princes Square will come alive with the smell of cuisine and the sound of music from around the world this Saturday 25 March, to celebrate Harmony Day.
This event will be a major celebration for the North and an example of collaboration and sharing of resources between key Launceston organisations.
The University of Tasmania has partnered with Cityprom, City of Launceston and the Migrant Resource Centre North to deliver a vibrant event that celebrates Launceston’s diversity, creates greater understanding and acceptance and provides an opportunity for our newly arrived community to share their heritage and new beginnings.
The University is a strong supporter of the event recognising that many of our students and staff are from diverse backgrounds and the many ways our diversity benefits the community socially and culturally.
There will be 13 food stalls from student and community groups, including Sudanese, Vietnamese, Eritrean, Congolese and many more.
There will also be a full line up of multicultural entertainment.
The community is encouraged to bring along a chair or a blanket and enjoy this picnic style event, which runs from 11am to 4pm.
