Food for thought in Burnie exhibition

Artists, researchers and educators will present their interpretations of food and its social, economic and environmental impacts in a new Burnie exhibition.

Imagining Food: Art, Aesthetics and Design will open to the public at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery on Saturday, May 27 (and will also be co-presented at the Makers’ Space).

Curated by Dr Malcolm Bywaters, Dr Kim Lehman and Distinguished Professor Jeff Malpas, the exhibition’s contributors include Diane Allison, Jack Birrell, Karina Clarke, Joanna Gair, Neil Haddon, David Hamilton, Marian Hosking, Meg Keating, Fiona Lehman, Anne McDonald, Anne Morrison, Troy Ruffels and Yvette Watts.

It is presented in partnership with the Institute for Regional Development, Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, Tasmanian College of the Arts, School of Social Sciences, University of Tasmania Collections, Makers’ Space and Burnie Regional Art Gallery.

Exhibition dates are: Burnie Regional Art Gallery, Saturday, 27 May-Sunday, 25 June; Makers’ Space, Saturday, 27 May-Tuesday, 27 June. Admission is free.
