The UTAS Library is supporting the ABC Giving Tree program again this year. The ABC Giving Tree program began life in 1988 as a small pine tree in Hobart's ABC foyer where presenter Ric Paterson urged listeners to leave a few toys for children in need at Christmas.
Nearly 25 years on and the ABC Giving Tree has snowballed into Tasmania's largest Christmas charity. Donations are divided amongst Tasmanian charities to be handed out across the state to those who need them at Christmas.
The UTAS Launceston Campus and Morris Miller libraries are drop off points for UTAS donations – donations will be collected on 14 December. Please do not giftwrap donated items. Further information, including how to make a cash donation, at http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2010/10/25/3047596.htm
