Thank you to our Voluntary Position Holders
UTAS' Voluntary Position Holders were thanked for their significant contributions to the University recently at a function on the Sandy Bay campus.
At the event UTAS Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Rathjen said he was humbled to be surrounded by so much experience, wisdom and ability.
"We are here to thank a large group of people, who in a way we couldn't possibly ask, choose to contribute to the mission of the University."
Prof Rathjen said it was wonderful to see so many former colleagues reconnecting after years apart.
"I have pondered whether working at a university is more akin to a job or whether it sits more closely with a vocation. There is significant sense in it being the latter."
Prof Rathjen said Professor John Greenhill, who was recently honoured with the inagural Award for Outstanding Contributions by Voluntary Position Holders, "epitomises the kind of contribution we celebrate."
